Bob Ballard Comments Paris Olympics 2024: American commentator Bob Ballard has been removed from the commentary panel at the Paris Olympics 2024. Ballard made an indecent comment on the Australian women’s team during a swimming competition last Saturday. In fact, after the Australian women’s team won the gold medal in the 4 X 100 meter freestyle swimming competition, Ballard said on-air, “Do you know what women are like? They just roam around and only wear makeup.”
Let us tell you that Ballard has been doing commentary for the last 40 years and he has done commentary in sports like ice hockey, diving and swimming. He was doing commentary for Eurosport, but now this broadcaster has removed him from the panel for sexist comments. When Ballard used abusive language, his co-panelist Lizzie Simmonds called this comment ‘insulting’ on which Bob laughed loudly. Simmonds retorted by saying that even men wear makeup.
had to lose job
After this indecent comment, Eurosport issued a statement on Bob Ballard saying, “During an event on Eurosport channel last night, commentator Bob Ballard made indecent comments. Due to this, he is being removed from the commentary panel with immediate effect.” The Australian women’s team on which Ballard commented included Meg Harris, Molly O’Callaghan, Emma McKeown and Shayna Jack. This was the fourth consecutive time that Australia won the gold medal in the 4 X 100 relay swimming competition.
Bob Ballard apologizes
Meanwhile, Ballard apologized to everyone on this matter through social media, saying, “While commentating for Eurosport, one of my comments has hurt many people, but my intention was never to hurt anyone’s feelings. I apologize for this and respect female athletes. I am going to miss the Eurosport team but I want to wish them all the best for the entire Olympic tournament.”
Right here it is the statement pt 1:
The comments I made during the Australian freestyle relay victory ceremony on Saturday have caused some offence. It was never my intention to upset or belittle anyone and, if I did, I apologize. I am a massive advocate of women’s sport.
