Families of Cricketers Not Allowed To Overseas Tour: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering taking tough decisions after the recent poor performance of Team India. With the 1-3 defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, India has also lost its place in the final of the World Test Championship 2025. Earlier, India had lost the Test series against New Zealand by 0-3, after which the board can again strictly implement an old rule for players and team management.
Entry of family along with players limited
A report in Sports Now states that the BCCI may re-implement the old rule under which players’ families and wives will not be able to accompany them during the entire tour. A senior BCCI official said that the board believes that if the players’ families are with them, their performance may be affected.
According to the new rule (as per report)
- Long Tour: In tours of 45 days or more, players will be able to keep their families with them for only 14 days.
- Short tours: For short trips this limit has been reduced to 7 days.
Travel by team bus is mandatory
It was reported in the report that in order to maintain the unity of the players, BCCI has also decided that all the players will compulsorily travel by team bus. In the last few series, Virat Kohli and some other players were seen traveling separately, which is now being considered to be banned. But at present there is no official confirmation on all this.
Action against Gambhir’s manager
According to the report, BCCI has also taken action against Indian team head coach Gautam Gambhir’s manager Gaurav Arora. Let us tell you that in some reports it has been said that Gaurav was staying in the team hotel, was using the team bus and was sitting in the VIP box. This had never happened before in Indian cricket and hence BCCI took strict action on this. Now he has not only been instructed to stay out of the team hotel, but has also been banned from sitting in the VIP box of the stadium.
