Ricky Ponting on Rishabh Pant Better Than MS Dhoni: A statement by Ricky Ponting, who was the head coach of Delhi Capitals in IPL, has come into discussions. On one hand, he has set a new example of commitment by returning to the cricket field in just one and a half years despite a fatal injury in December 2022. Meanwhile, he has created a rift between the fans of both the players by calling Pant better than MS Dhoni.
Australian legend Ricky Ponting praised Rishabh Pant and said that he plays seriously and always tries to leave his mark on the field. He said, “Pant is an impressive cricketer. He has scored 4 or 5 Test centuries in Test cricket so far and he likes his style of playing. Dhoni played 90 Test matches in his career, in which he could score only 6 centuries. Pant has scored 5 centuries so far.”
I did not think Pant would return
In the month of December 2022, Rishabh Pant’s car had a terrible accident. Due to serious injuries at many places, Pant was advised to stay away from cricket for a long time. On this, Ponting says that he did not think that Pant would be able to play in IPL 2024 due to the severity of the injuries. He said, “Such a comeback even after being seriously injured is unbelievable. If you look at his leg and the way he informed about his accident. After hearing all that, I did not think that he would be able to play in IPL 2024.”
Rishabh Pant made a comeback in IPL 2024, where he scored 446 runs. After that, he scored 171 runs in 8 matches for India in the T20 World Cup 2024. Now after a long wait, he has returned to the Test team as he has been selected for the 2-match Test series against Bangladesh.
