BCCI AGM 2024 IPL Chairman: The annual meeting called by BCCI remains a topic of much discussion. There is news of no decision being taken in this meeting regarding the new secretary of BCCI, but a big update has come out regarding the Governing Council of IPL. Every year in the annual meeting, decisions are taken regarding the positions within the Governing Council of the Indian Premier League.
According to Cricbuzz, Arun Singh Dhumal and Abhishek Dalmiya will remain part of the Governing Council of IPL. Arun is the current chairman of IPL and Abhishek was working as a member of the Governing Council. Both have filed nominations to continue in their respective posts and according to reports, Arun and Abhishek will be elected unopposed as chairman and member of the council in the meeting to be held on September 29.
If this happens then Arun Singh Dhumal will continue as chairman. Since the mega auction of IPL 2025 is approaching, major decisions will be taken in the annual meeting regarding retention rules, how much purse the team will have and players’ salaries. The representative of Indian Cricketers Association (ICA) is to be elected in this meeting. According to the report, V Chamundeswarnath will continue to hold the same post in ICA that he was holding earlier.
What is the update on retention policy?
Talking about retention policy, according to some media reports, all 10 teams may be allowed to retain five players each. At the same time, each team can be allowed to use Right to Match (RTM card) on any one player. Last time the purse of each team was Rs 100 crore, but this time the purse can be increased to Rs 115-120 crore.
