Normally a healthy body has 5-6 liters of blood. Platelets are present in the blood. Their job is blood clotting and prevent bleeding from the body. These are called thrombocytes. If it decreases to less than 30,000, then bleeding starts from the body and blood starts coming out through nose, ears, urine and stool.
To know the number of platelets in the blood, CBC or complete blood count test has to be done. If its number is low, then to increase it, one should eat foods rich in vitamin B12 and vitamin C, folate and iron.
