Nirmala Sitharaman: The entire country is shocked by the tragic death of 26-year-old CA Anna Sebastian Perayil of Kerala. Anna, who worked in the Pune office of Ernst & Young India, died due to the alleged overwork given by the company. Now Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is also on the target on this issue. Questions are being raised about her statement by the opposition parties and on social media. After this, the Finance Minister has also had to give clarification.
Nirmala Sitharaman said- her statement was not on Ana
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman wrote on the social media platform X that her statement on inner strength and spirituality was about the meditation hall and place of worship built in a university in Chennai. It has been built for students and teachers. The Finance Minister had appealed to the students to develop inner strength. She said that we all are saddened by Ana’s death. I had appealed to the institutions and families to help their children. My intention was not to shame the victim in any way.
The Finance Minister only understands the pain of Adani and Ambani
During the program, the Finance Minister had said that you should trust God and learn discipline. This will increase your self-confidence and inner strength. However, many people on social media linked his statement to the death of Ana Sebastian. After this, he started being criticized for being insensitive. Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi wrote that Ana had inner strength. She could bear the pressure. But, she died due to toxic work culture and excessive work. Action should be taken on this. Congress leader KC Venugopal wrote that the Finance Minister only understands the pain of Adani and Ambani. He will not understand the pain of young people like Ana who are working hard.
