Between 2019 and 2021, about 90 percent of all avocado shipments in the US came from Mexico. In such a situation, increasing the tariff on the goods coming from these countries by Trump will increase the direct burden on the pocket of common American citizens.

The US imports billions of dollars and machinery from China every year, which are used in TV, smartphones and other electronic goods. In response to the new tariff, China can also take tough steps, which can increase more pressure on American consumers. At the same time, the governments of Mexico and Canada are also retaliating.

Canada has released a list of 1,256 products imported from the US, on which it will impose tariffs. These include poultry, dairy products, fresh fruits and vegetables, wood, paper products and electronic goods.
