Sunil cloned Bharti Mittal’s voice
Sunil Mittal shared this incident in the NDTV World Summit in which his voice was copied exactly i.e. cloned. Actually, an official of his company received a call in Dubai and in this call there was talk of transferring money to an account in his name. The said officer was surprised to hear Sunil Mittal’s voice on the call because he (Sunil Mittal) can never give such instructions to his officers, hence he did not transfer the amount and was saved from this scam.
Attempt to extort money by using advanced artificial intelligence
Sunil Bharti Mittal said that very advanced artificial intelligence was used to clone his voice and the scammer tried to extort huge amount of money by using Sunil Mittal’s voice. It was good that the Airtel official recognized that the call was fake and did not transfer the amount. Sunil Mittal also said that he was surprised to hear that recording because he had heard reports of such misuse of AI but this time an attempt was made to target him.
Misuse of AI can become a danger – Sunil Mittal
Sunil Bharti Mittal was stunned by the scam that was attempted using the voice of the Chairman of Bharti Airtel and he believed that if AI is misused, it can be very dangerous. In this, when an attempt can be made to hunt down the owners of the country’s biggest telecom companies, then the danger to the common people increases greatly.
