Air India-Airbus Deal: Tata Group’s global airline Air India is going to buy 100 more new aircraft from Airbus. The company has placed an order for this. The 100 new Airbus aircraft include 10 widebody A350 and 90 narrowbody A320 Family Aircraft, which also includes A321neo. This order given for 100 new aircraft is different from the order given to Airbus and Boeing last year for 470 aircraft.
In the year 2023, Air India had ordered 250 aircraft from Airbus, which includes 40 A350 and 210 A320 family aircraft. Now the total number of aircraft orders given to Airbus has increased to 350. Air India has selected Airbus FHS-C (Flight Hour Services-Component) to meet the maintenance needs of the A350 fleet. The new material and maintenance strategy will help Air India improve the reliability and performance of the A350 aircraft fleet with engineering services and integrated component services provided by Airbus including on-site stock in Delhi.
Tata Sons and Air India Chairman N Chandrasekaran (Natarajan Chandrasekaran) Said, the growth in the number of air passengers in India is much higher than the rest of the world, its infrastructure is improving significantly and the ambitions of the young population are becoming increasingly global, in such a situation, we feel that Air India has the right direction for its future. The fleet will have to be expanded beyond the order of 470 aircraft placed last year. He said, these additional 100 Airbus aircraft will help take Air India on the path of faster growth and contribute to our mission of making Air India a world class airline that will connect India to every corner of the world.
With the order of 100 new aircraft from Airbus, Air India will now get 344 new aircraft from Airbus. Air India has already received six A350 aircraft from Airbus. Air India had also ordered 220 widebody and narrowbody aircraft from Boeing in 2023, of which 185 are yet to be delivered. Air India is the first airline in India to operate the Airbus A350 which is powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines. Air India is giving passengers the experience of non-stop flying from Delhi to London and New York through A350 aircraft.
