Adani Defense and Aerospace: Adani Defense and Aerospace, a company of Adani Group owned by billionaire Gautam Adani, has handed over the second Drishti-10 Starliner surveillance drone to the Indian Navy. This will increase the capability of the Indian Navy to conduct surveillance in maritime areas and reduce the risk of piracy. Sources with knowledge of the matter said that Drishti 10 provides the Indian Navy with unmatched capabilities to monitor vast maritime areas. Along with this, it is an unmanned aircraft which can act as a maritime surveillance as well as reconnaissance tool.
How the second unmanned aerial vehicle was handed over to the Navy
The process of inducting the second Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) into the naval operations of the Navy was started in Porbandar, Gujarat. It is a version of Israel’s Hermes 900 drone, a medium-altitude, long-range UAV.
What are the features of Drishti-10 Starliner?
The Drishti 10 Starliner drone, manufactured at Adani Defense and Aerospace’s Hyderabad plant, is an advanced intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) device. It has a running capacity of 36 hours and a payload of 450 kg. With NATO STANAG 4671 (Standardized Agreement 4671) affiliation for airworthiness of UAV systems, it is the only all-weather military equipment. Another specialty of this is that it is allowed to fly in both separate and unconsolidated airspace.
Navy got its first Drishti-10 Starliner in January this year.
The first Drishti-10 Starliner was delivered to the Indian Navy in January this year. Apart from this, it was supplied to the Indian Army in June. After handing over the first Drishti-10 to the Indian Navy at the beginning of this year, the delivery of the second Drishti-10 in the last month of the year will further increase the Navy’s maritime surveillance capability.
