Singhvi taunts Modi government on employment
He further said, “The budget lacks commitment to generate employment. The Finance Minister failed to give any specific numbers on job creation. We all should remember the promise of 2 crore annual jobs made by the Modi government in the initial days.”
Investors got a big shock- Singhvi
The Congress leader also said, “Cutting subsidies on food and fertilizers is an attack on the weak, marginalised and farmers. The budget failed to meet the expectations of the banking sector. All banking stocks sank in the red today after the budget failed to announce any major reforms for the sector. Investors suffered a major setback.”
What did Abhishek Manu Singhvi say on the health sector?
He also raised questions about the health sector. He said, “The Modi government’s health expenditure as a proportion of GDP has remained stagnant. Given this scenario, the government is far from reaching its target of spending 2.5% of GDP on health.”
Attack on increasing prices of telecom equipment
He wrote on social media X, “Despite talking about digital and telecom revolution, the prices of some telecom equipment were increased in the budget. The government has proposed to increase the customs duty on some telecom equipment from 10 percent to 15 percent.
Singhvi surrounded the center on MNREGA scheme
Abhishek Manu Singhvi also cornered the government over the budget of the MNREGA scheme. He said, “The budget of UPA’s ambitious MNREGA scheme also decreased equally – from Rs 90,806 crore in 2022-23 to Rs 86,000 crore at present.”
Attack on the center regarding agriculture budget
He also attacked the central government over the agriculture budget. He said, “The agriculture budget has seen a cut in the successive budgets of the Modi government. The share of the total budget allocated for the Agriculture Ministry has decreased from 4.97% in 2019-20 to 2.74% in 2024-25
He further said, “The government did not come up with any allocation to upgrade railway infrastructure. Significant upgrades in infrastructure have been planned in the interim budget. Despite frequent accidents, no special allocation was provided for the railway sector, which led to a decline of up to 5 percent in related stocks.”
