Pakistan Cricket Team: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has so far taken a clear stand on hosting the Champions Trophy 2025. But now a big revelation has come out that PCB chairman Mohsin Raza Naqvi has handed over the responsibility of all the decisions related to the Pakistan cricket team to former cricketer Waqar Younis. This decision has been taken at a time when the hopes of making the current BCCI secretary Jay Shah the chairman of the ICC are at their peak.
According to a Pakistani media channel, it is being told that Naqvi has handed over the responsibility of all decisions related to cricket to Waqar Younus. Even the decisions related to Champions Trophy 2025 will now be taken by Waqar. Waqar Younus will now also handle the responsibility of Pakistan’s international and domestic cricket, selection committee and NOC certificate of players. According to the PCB constitution 2014, the chairman of the board can share his power with another person.
Sources have said that Naqvi wants maximum participation of former cricketers in decisions related to Pakistan cricket. The incident is not too old when this month the PCB chairman met more than 20 former and current cricketers and raised the issue of the future of Pakistan cricket. The chairman also indicated that 5 to 6 suggestions given in the meeting will be implemented. For example, as per the suggestion of former test cricketer Yasir Ahmed, cricket academies will be built in Peshawar and Islamabad. Apart from this, efforts will also be made to improve the grounds.
The chairman said that apart from giving utmost importance to four-day cricket, world-class coaches will be appointed. Meanwhile, the formation of 5 domestic cricket teams can also be approved, which will have one coach and one mentor each.
