CERT-In Public Wi-Fi Tips : The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has alerted people to be cautious while using public Wi-Fi. On behalf of the ministry, the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has shared tips (Wifi Best Practices) for users on X.
In this post, it is told what things people should keep in mind while using public Wi-Fi. Actually, public Wi-Fi has always been the target of hackers. Hackers hack people’s devices with the help of Wi-Fi and then misuse it.
Users who use Wi-Fi in public places do not even know and hackers steal their personal and important data from their devices. Keeping this danger in mind, important tips have been issued by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. By keeping these tips in mind, you can keep yourself and your device safe from hackers.
Tips issued by the ministry
-Always keep in mind that before connecting your device to a public Wi-Fi, ask the staff there for the network name and the correct login method.
-Never avoid doing online shopping, banking or any sensitive activity while using public Wi-Fi.
-For online shopping and banking, always keep in mind that use only those sites whose name starts with http://.
-Avoid using public Wi-Fi unless there is some urgent work.
-Disconnect the public Wi-Fi from your device as soon as you are done with your work.
-Always keep the OS and anti-virus updates in your device.
-Use strong passwords for mobile hotspot and home Wi-Fi network.
-Always keep the autoconnect option turned off in your device.
