Smishing Attack: Scammers are adopting new methods for data theft and financial fraud. Now the American agency FBI has released a warning regarding a new type of scam. In such scams, mobile users get a fake message. In this, there is a lie like a fine for not paying toll tax. After this, mobile users are asked to pay immediate fine. The link given in the message opens a spam page, from where it becomes easy for scammers to steal the user information. It is being called Smishing (SMS+Phishing) scam.
Fake domain is being taken support
Earlier these scams started by sending fake messages only in the name of toll tax and now scams are trying to lime people in the name of delivery service etc. According to reports, scammers have registered 10,000 fake domains for this. These domains that look real are the moves of scammers and people reach here as soon as they click on the link on the message. In the message, people are asked to pay immediate fine to avoid penalty. If someone accidentally clicks on this link, then information about bank and credit card etc. is sought from them. This complete information reaches the scammers, which makes it easier for them to cheat the money along with the theft.
How to avoid such scams?
FBI says that some cases of smishing have come up in America and some areas of Canada. The agency has advised to delete any such message immediately to prevent such scams. Explain that caution is necessary to avoid cyber fraud cases and people are advised not to click on the link from any unknown or suspicious person.
