KGF Chapter 1 Completed 6 Years: Exactly six years ago today, Indian audiences saw Yash becoming a pan-India superstar through KGF. The character of Rocky, played by Yash, was not only a symbol of rebellion and strength, but his emotions also touched everyone’s heart. One scene of this film that is always remembered is when Rocky helps a distressed mother and says, “The greatest warrior in the world is a mother.” This scene was so emotional that it showed Rocky’s real thoughts, which touched the hearts of the audience.
Mother’s emotion scene in KGF 1 was not part of the script
In a recent interview, Yash shared interesting things about the creative process behind this scene. He told that this scene was not part of the original script. Earlier in this scene it was shown that Rocky makes an elderly woman cross the road. But during the editing session, executive producer Rama Rao suggested a major change. Since Rocky’s mother was an important part of his story, it felt right to add her emotion to this special moment.
Yash further said, “I always create such an environment where even the last assistant director can come and tell me that the last take was good, boss. I do this because when you give everyone a chance to speak freely, then sometimes amazing things happen. The same thing happened in KGF and we were working on the famous scene of an elderly woman crossing the road. That was the scene.
Where did the idea of the mother’s emotional scene in the film come from?
In that scene I take out the gun, and it was shot as a gun scene. So my executive producer, Mr. Ramrao, was watching the edit. He came and said, ‘The whole film is about the mother. Why can’t the mother be in this scene? Hearing this, Prashant and I started looking at each other. We also thought this was an amazing idea! Then I asked, ‘What to do now?’ So Prashant said, ‘Don’t worry, we will shoot this scene again.’ After this we called a woman with a small child. Then Rocky remembers his mother, and I go out and talk to the woman. During that time, we wanted a dialogue, and while discussing, that line was formed. Everything just happened on its own.”
He further said, “You never know, we had worked on that script for 4-5 years. We were working on it since 2014, but no one knows where this idea will come from. The person handling the production came and told us something. And if that is true then I believe that this is the thinking and environment where the director and the entire team have to work together. That’s when magic happens!”
This change not only increased the emotional depth of the film, but also gave an aspect to Rocky’s character that everyone could connect with. Yash gave credit to the collaborative thinking of the KGF team, due to which such effective creative decisions were taken. This is the thing that made the film such a huge success.
