At present, the heartbeats of Indian cricket fans have increased in this matter. This is because after two test matches in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, this series is tied at 1-1. The third Test match between India and Australia is being played in Gabba from 14th December, which is on the verge of being canceled due to rain. In such a situation, what is going on in the minds of the fans is what will be the scenario regarding India’s World Test Championship 2025 final after the Gabba Test is canceled due to rain.
What if the third test is drawn?
To keep the hopes alive in the final of the World Test Championship 2025, it is very important for the Indian team to win the Gabba Test, but due to heavy rain the match is being greatly affected. If the match is canceled due to rain, then India will have to win the remaining two tests at any cost. Even if the result of the series is 3-2, then in this situation also Team India will have to depend on the result of the Test series to be held between Australia and Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka will have to win at least one test against Australia, only then India’s path will become easier.
If the test is canceled due to rain then this will be the equation
- If India wins Melbourne and Sydney Tests:
The Indian team will directly qualify for the World Test Championship 2025 final without depending on the results of any other team. - If India wins the series 2-1:
Sri Lanka will have to avoid whitewashing against Australia. - If India draws the series 2-2:
Sri Lanka will have to defeat Australia in at least one match. - If India draws the series 1-1:
Sri Lanka will have to draw or win the series against Australia. - If India loses the series:
Team India will be out of the race for the World Test Championship 2025 final.
