Former OpenAI researcher found dead: Former researcher and whistleblower Suchir Balaji of OpenAI, the company that made ChatGPT, has been found dead in his flat in San Francisco. It is being told that 26 year old Balaji has committed suicide. On 26 November, his body was found at his flat on Buchanan Street. San Francisco Police spokesperson said that preliminary investigation has not found any foul play and it appears that he has committed suicide. His family members have been informed about this. According to Balaji’s LinkedIn profile, he worked with OpenAI from November 2020 to August 2024.
OpenAI confirmed the death
Balaji’s death has been confirmed by his former company OpenAI. A company spokesperson said that we are shocked to hear this sad news and we express our condolences to Suchir’s loved ones in this difficult time.
American billionaire Elon Musk has also reacted to a post containing information about Balaji’s death by writing ‘Hmm’. Let us tell you that Musk started OpenAI with Sam Altman in 2015, but currently there is a dispute going on between the two.
OpenAI was accused of violating the law
Balaji had stopped working in OpenAI this year and after this accused the company of violating American law. Their allegation was that the company had violated American copyright law while creating ChatGPT chatbot.
