Iitian scan fetal brain for the first time

Fetal Brain: IIT Madras has achieved a new feat in the world of science. It has become the first institute in the world to capture 3D high resolution images of the fetal brain. With this achievement, India’s stature will further rise in the science of brain mapping science. The data of these 3D pictures of the fetal brain has been named Dharani. Which is an open source. This is how the research was done

For the first time in the world, 5132 brain sections have been captured through cutting edge brain mapping technology. This technology has been developed in the Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Center of IIT itself. It is believed that with the help of these images the field of neuroscience will advance further. Health conditions affecting the brain can also be treated. An entire multidisciplinary team of IIT Madras was prepared for this research. In which researchers from Australia, US, Romania, South Africa including India were included.

This research was led by Mohan Shankar Shiv Prakash, head of Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Centre. This research is considered very important for the study related to brain development. An effort will be made to understand the developments that take place in the brain from the time the child grows up. Also, brain disorders related to learning disability and autism can be understood.

Will be published in special issue

The findings of this research will be published in the special issue of the Journal of Comparative Neurology. On this research, Principal Scientific Advisor of the Central Government, Ajay Kumar Sood said that India is proving to be a leader in the direction of mapping the fitter brain. For the first time, this research has been possible with cutting edge technology. This research will prove to be a global resource for researchers around the world.
