Ranjeet On Rekha-Amitabh: Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan are two legendary names of that chapter of Indian cinema about which there is a lot to read. Once Bollywood villain Ranjeet had made a shocking revelation about Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan.
Rekha had left the film to spend the evening with Amitabh
Let us tell you that Ranjeet was one of the most famous villains of his time. He also took the responsibility of director of a film named ‘Carnama’. In this film he had signed Rekha and Dharmendra as lead stars. During an interview given to Rediff in 2015, Ranjeet revealed that Rekha had bunked his film to spend time with Amitabh Bachchan.
Ranjit had told during the interview that most of his films were scheduled for the evening shift. However, the Umrao Jaan actress had made a very strange request related to her shooting schedule. When Ranjeet refused to accept her request, the actress returned the entire signing amount and left the film.
Rekha wanted her shooting schedule to be as per Big B’s schedule.
Although Rekha’s request was very simple but complex. She wanted time with Amitabh Bachchan and for this she wanted the shooting schedule of the film as per Big B’s schedule. Ranjit said, “The entire first schedule of the action was for the evening shift. One day, Rekha called and requested if I could shift the shooting schedule to the morning shift as she wanted to spend the evening with Amitabh Bachchan.
Ranjeet further recalled, “I had to delay the film and Dharmendra got busy with other commitments. He suggested the name of Anita Raj in place of Rekha. Eventually, I made the film with Farah, Kimi Katkar and Vinod Khanna. It did average business (when it released in 1990).”
