ICC Champions Trophy 2025: The matter regarding the 2025 Champions Trophy is in no way being resolved. Pakistan is hosting this prestigious ICC tournament. However, Team India is not going to Pakistan for this global tournament. In such a situation, there is talk of making it a hybrid model. There was news that Pakistan was not accepting this formula. Meanwhile, a very surprising update has come out. If sources are to be believed, PCB itself now wants to hold the Champions Trophy outside Pakistan.
If sources are to be believed, a section of the PCB wants the entire Champions Trophy to be shifted out of Pakistan. This entire tournament should be played in Dubai and Pakistan should get a check of 65 million US dollars for the hosting rights. It is being said that the stadiums are not ready and this will open another chapter of corruption. PTI’s riots have not helped their cause. PCB has to return today under any circumstances after taking advice from its government. Tomorrow Jay Shah will take over as ICC Chairman. They want to pass the buck to save face and avoid this mess.
Earlier it was reported that in the ICC Executive Board meeting held in Dubai on Friday, a clear ultimatum was given to the PCB that if it does not accept the ‘hybrid model’, then the tournament will be organized without Pakistan.
Under the ‘Hybrid Model’, it is proposed that Pakistan’s matches be held on its home grounds and India’s matches be held in UAE. However, PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi has rejected it. Naqvi tried to clarify Pakistan’s position in the meeting, but due to India’s security concerns, a consensus could not be reached.
The Indian government has made it clear that the Indian team will not tour Pakistan due to security reasons. The spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs said that this stand of BCCI is completely justified. Most of the ICC members present in the meeting understand Pakistan’s situation, but they said that ‘hybrid model’ is the only solution to this crisis.
