Shreyas Iyer IPL 2025 Price: The year was 2015, when at the age of just 21, Shreyas Iyer played his first match for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). Iyer was bought by Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 mega auction for Rs 26.75 crore. With this he has become the second most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League. But do you know that within the last seven years, Shreyas’s IPL salary has increased more than 10 times.
When Shreyas Iyer played for Delhi Capitals for the first time, he got Rs 2.60 crore from 2015-2017. Mega auction was held in the year 2018 and this time Delhi bought Shreyas for Rs 7 crore. During this time, under his captaincy, Iyer had taken Delhi Capitals to the final of IPL 2020, but his team lost to Mumbai Indians by 5 wickets in the final. This trend of salary of Rs 7 crore continued till the year 2021.
KKR increased salary by Rs 5.25 crore
The time came for IPL 2022 when once again everyone’s eyes were on the mega auction. Considering Shreyas Iyer’s individual performance and leadership skills, KKR bought him in 2022 for Rs 12.25 crore. Compared to last year, this former Delhi captain was getting Rs 5.25 crore more. The seasons of 2022 and 2023 were nothing special for Kolkata Knight Riders, but in IPL 2024, Shreyas Iyer made his team the champion under his captaincy.
Punjab made record breaking bid
Seeing the growing stature of Shreyas Iyer in world cricket, Punjab Kings have broken records in the IPL 2025 mega auction. According to the reports that came out before the auction, Delhi Capitals had made up its mind to buy Shreyas Iyer. Delhi had even bid Rs 26.50 crore for Shreyas, but Punjab, taking full advantage of the crores of rupees left in its purse, bought Shreyas for Rs 26.75 crore. Overall, compared to the salary of Rs 2.6 crore in 2017, Shreyas will be taking 10 times more salary in 2025.
