WhatsApp: If you use WhatsApp, then now you are going to get a new and very amazing feature in it. Let us tell you about this new feature and also tell you how to activate and then use it in your WhatsApp.
WhatsApp has recently launched a new feature, which makes reading voice messages even easier. Under this feature, now text transcription of voice message will be available, so that you will be able to read it instead of listening to it. This feature is available on both Android and iOS platforms and is especially helpful when you are in a busy environment or a noisy place.
How does voice message transcription work?
According to WhatsApp, the transcription is generated on-device and is completely private. This means that the message is processed only on your phone and WhatsApp cannot access it. This feature maintains WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption policy, thereby protecting your privacy.
How to enable the feature:
- Go to Settings > Chats.
- Turn on Voice Message Transcripts and choose your preferred language.
- Tap and hold the voice message, then tap the Transcribe option.
- To see the transcription in detail, tap the expand icon visible on the message.
Features available in these languages
This feature is available in many languages on iOS, like English, French, German, Italian, Japanese etc. At the same time, for Android users it is currently limited to only English, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian and Hindi. Support for other languages is likely to be added in the future.
What to do when an error occurs?
If you see Transcript unavailable error, there could be several reasons behind it:
- No support for selected language.
- Inability to recognize words properly.
- Too much noise in the background.
- No support for voice message language.
The company has also advised that the transcript may not be completely accurate, so use it with caution. Now it remains to be seen how much Indian users like this new feature of WhatsApp.
