Rohit Sharma Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024: Rohit Sharma has recently become a father for the second time, hence he had decided to stay out of the first Test to be with wife Ritika Sajdeh. Now a media report has revealed that he can join Team India on the third day of India vs Australia first test. Other players of the Indian team left for Australia in three separate groups on 10 and 11 November.
According to Cricbuzz, earlier it was being said that Rohit Sharma would have arrived in Perth several days before the start of the first Test (22 November). But now the new report of Cricbuzz has revealed that Rohit Sharma has told the BCCI officials that he is going to join the Indian team on Sunday i.e. 24th November. The Perth Test would have started even before this, from which it is also clear that Rohit is going to play not the first but the second Test.
Jasprit Bumrah will be captaining Team India in the absence of Rohit Sharma in the Perth Test. Bumrah had told in a recent press conference, “I had talked to Rohit earlier, but after coming to Australia it became clear that I am going to be the captain.” Meanwhile, speculations about Mohammed Shami’s return in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy are also gaining momentum. Bumrah had said that Shami is back on the cricket field. Bumrah expressed hope that if all goes well, Shami can be seen playing in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Shami has returned
Mohammed Shami was injured during the 2023 World Cup. About a year later, he made a comeback in the current season of Ranji Trophy. While playing for Bengal, he had taken 7 wickets in the very first match. Not only this, Shami played an important role in Bengal’s victory in two innings by contributing with the bat. Now he will also be seen playing for Bengal in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy.
