MS Dhoni Hong Kong Cricket Sixes Tournament: Hong Kong Cricket Six Tournament is going to return after a long wait of 7 years in cricket. This tournament will be played from 1-3 November, in which 6 players play in each team. 12 teams including India, Pakistan, Australia and England will be participating in this upcoming tournament. The history of this tournament is very old, but here we are talking about the year 2004 when MS Dhoni had made ghosts of the opposition bowlers by playing just 8 balls.
MS Dhoni’s strike rate of 450
Nikhil Chopra was captaining India in the Hong Kong Six Tournament held in 2024. That year, on 7 November, India faced South Africa. Dhoni was only 23 years old and he was not the wicketkeeper of the team but Praveen Amre used to keep wickets for the Indian team. Let us remind you that Dhoni had opened for India every time in that 2004 tournament.
Even in the match against South Africa, Dhoni started the innings with Subroto Banerjee. ‘Thala’ played only 8 balls, in which he scored 36 runs. Dhoni had hit 5 sixes and one four in his innings. He created a blast in that match by batting at a staggering strike rate of 450. In this match, India scored 101 runs while playing first, yet Africa won that match by 4 wickets.
Dhoni also took a wicket
MS Dhoni was the only bowler to take a wicket in that match against South Africa. Dhoni bowled 1 over, in which he gave away 17 runs and also clean bowled Johan van der Vath. Only a month after this brilliant performance, Dhoni made his international debut. On 23 December 2004, in the India vs Bangladesh match, Dhoni was run out after playing just one ball.
