The Lowy Institute has released the 2024 Asia Power Index in which the United States is in first place with 81.7 points. China is in second place with 72.7 points, India is in third place with 39.1 points and Japan is now in fourth place with 38.9 points. Australia is in fifth place with 31.9 points and Russia is in sixth place with 31.1 points. India’s points have increased by 2.8 points, which has brought it to third place in the Asia Power Index.
Why did its stature increase in the Asia Power Index?
India’s economic recovery has seen a strong pace after the Corona epidemic, which has led to a jump of 4.2 points in its economic capability. Due to India’s large population and strong GDP, India is now the third largest economy in the world in terms of Purchasing Power Parity. India’s Future Resources Score has jumped by 8.2 points, which is pointing to India’s demographic dividend. Compared to its rivals China and Japan, India is getting a big advantage of its young population and due to this, there will be a huge expansion in economic growth and labor force in the coming decades.
