Virat Kohli vs Joe Root Debate: Joe Root is the topic of discussion these days. In the second match of the Test series against Sri Lanka, Root heated up the atmosphere by scoring centuries in both the innings. After scoring two consecutive centuries, Root is being compared with legendary batsmen, including Sachin Tendulkar. Now Root is being compared with Virat Kohli.
Former Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist gave a very interesting answer to the debate on the best batsman between Virat Kohli and Joe Root. During this, former England captain Michael Vaughan was also present. Vaughan also put forth his point of view.
Speaking on the club’s Prairie Fire podcast, Gilchrist said: “Over a period of time… over a long period of time, Joe Root’s stats have been… well he’s been the best England player ever.”
He further said, “Virat scored one of the best centuries ever seen in the first Test match played at Perth Stadium, it was probably a different kind of century. I would probably say Virat.” Gilchrist made it clear that according to him Virat Kohli is the best batsman.
Then Michael Vaughan said, “I will not argue with this in Australia. I would say Virat against the Australian team in Australia, anywhere else I will go with Joe Root.”
