Reliance Bonus Issue: The board of Reliance Industries has approved the issuance of bonus shares to shareholders. The company’s board meeting was held on Thursday, September 5, 2025, in which approval has been given to issue bonus shares in the ratio of 1:1. On August 29, 2024, in the Annual General Meeting of Reliance Industries, the company’s chairman Mukesh Ambani had announced the issuance of bonus shares. The record date for issuing bonus shares will be informed later.
Stock exchanges informed
In a regulatory filing with the stock exchanges, Reliance Industries, while giving information about the decisions taken in the meeting of the Board of Directors, said that the board has approved the issuance of one new share of Rs 10 in exchange for one existing share of Rs 10 to the eligible shareholders of the company on the record date. The company said in the regulatory filing that the board has approved increasing the authorized share capital from the current Rs 15,000 crore to Rs 50,000 crore.
Recommendation to seek approval from shareholders
Reliance Industries has given its approval to issue bonus shares and has recommended to seek approval from shareholders through postal ballot. In a regulatory filing, Reliance said that the record date to identify the shareholders entitled to get bonus shares will be informed separately later. Despite this decision, Reliance stock closed at Rs 2986 with a decline of 1.42 percent in today’s trading session.
How will shareholders benefit
Suppose if a shareholder has 100 shares of Reliance Industries, then after getting bonus shares, the number of his shares will increase to 200. However, the share price will decrease in the same proportion.
