WFI On Vinesh Phogat Disqualification: Vinesh Phogat’s disqualification from Paris Olympics 2024 was a big setback for India. Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat was participating in the 50 kg freestyle wrestling competition of the Paris Olympics. Vinesh had qualified for the final after winning three matches and today she was to play the gold medal match, but before that the news came that she has been disqualified due to overweight. Now the statement of the Wrestling Federation of India has come out on this.
Wrestling Federation of India president Sanjay Singh said that she got disqualified after performing so well. Talking in detail on the matter, he said that we are looking into what to do. Regarding the weight gain, he said that only her nutritionist can answer this.
Talking to news agency ANI, Sanjay Singh said, “It is the misfortune of our India that after wrestling so well, she reached the finals and after that her weight increased by just 100 grams, due to which she was disqualified.”
Talking further, Sanjay Singh told how her weight increased overnight. Sanjay Singh said, “Vinesh has her coach, her physio, her nutritionist… everything was provided to her by the Government of India. All the people are with her in the village. She fought for two days, before that her weight was stable. Why did her weight increase overnight, how did the weight increase? Only her nutritionist and coach will be able to answer this.”
Further, he told how the Indian Wrestling Federation will take action in this matter. Will the Federation file an application or do something? On this, Sanjay Singh said, “The Wrestling Federation is currently looking into its legal process and PT Usha Madam has just reached the village. We will talk among ourselves and see what protest should be made to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the United World Wrestling Federation, we are considering the legal process on this.”
