The central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday gave a special gift to the eastern states of the country. The central government approved 8 new railway projects to improve connectivity in the eastern states. With the completion of these railway projects, transportation for the people is expected to improve.
So much provision for new projects
This information was given in an official statement after the meeting of the Union Cabinet led by PM Modi. According to the statement, 8 new railway line projects were approved in the recent cabinet meeting. Along with this, an estimated outlay of Rs 24,657 crore was also provided for these rail projects. These projects have been approved keeping in mind the development of the eastern states of the country.
These districts will benefit from new projects
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said after the cabinet meeting that the 8 new railway line projects approved by the Union Cabinet in this meeting will directly benefit 14 districts in 7 states of the country. The states benefiting from these projects include 4 states in the eastern part of the country – Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. Apart from them, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will also benefit directly.
Oil imports and carbon emissions will be reduced
According to an official statement, the approved routes are essential for the transportation of commodities such as agricultural products and fertilizers. These will provide additional transportation capacity of 143 MTPA (million tonnes per annum). Since railways is an environmentally friendly and energy-saving mode of transportation, the new routes will help reduce oil imports by 32.20 crore liters and cut down carbon dioxide emissions by 0.87 million tonnes. This is equivalent to planting 3.5 crore trees.

The Railway Ministry also informed through social media about the approval of 8 new railway projects by the Union Cabinet. The ministry shared an update on the social media platform X by sharing a video.

64 new stations, 40 lakh people benefited
According to the ministry, 64 new stations will be built in the construction of these 8 new railway projects. With the completion of these projects, the connectivity of 5 aspirational districts like East Singhbhum, Bhadari, Kothagudem, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur and Raigarh will improve, which will benefit 510 villages and a population of about 40 lakh people.
