India Squad for Sri Lanka Tour 2024: After the T20 World Cup 2024, Gautam Gambhir has become the new head coach of the Indian team. The first task before him is the tour of Sri Lanka. For the series against Sri Lanka, such players have been given a place in the squad, which perhaps no one had even expected. 1. Captaincy of Hardik Pandya

He was chosen as the vice-captain of Team India in the World Cup and he lived up to this responsibility. But as soon as the news of Suryakumar Yadav getting the captaincy for the T20 series against Sri Lanka spread, the cricket world has been divided into 2 factions. Hardik has experience, he is one of the best all-rounders in the world. Still, people are angry over not making him the captain.
2. Shubman Gill made vice-captain
Most of the senior players were rested for the Zimbabwe tour. Under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, Team India defeated Zimbabwe 4-1 in the series. But his becoming the vice-captain in the series against Sri Lanka has become a topic of discussion. Gill is only 24 years old and there are more experienced players than him in the team. If Suryakumar was to be given the captaincy of the T20 team against Sri Lanka, even then Hardik could have been made the vice-captain. A campaign has started on social media that as soon as Gambhir comes, he wants to forcibly make Shubman Gill the poster boy of Team India.
3. No place for Rituraj and Abhishek
First of all, if we talk about Rituraj Gaikwad, he should have been given a place in the T20 team at least. So far, he has scored 633 runs in 20 innings of T20 matches at an average of 39.5. On the Zimbabwe tour, he scored 133 runs in three innings by batting at 2 different positions. Where other batsmen were struggling, Gaikwad was consistently batting well. Despite this, Gaikwad has not even been given a place in the squad.
On the other hand, Abhishek Sharma made his international debut in the series against Zimbabwe. Although he was out for zero in the first match, in the second match itself he displayed his talent by scoring 100 runs in 47 balls. Abhishek showed that he can perform much better if he gains experience. Still, he has not been included in the squad against Sri Lanka.
