Capitalmind Financial Services has released a study according to which out of the top 30 IPOs launched in the country in terms of size, 18 IPOs have failed to generate high returns for investors.
Reliance Power gave negative returns
According to a study by Capitalmind Financial Services, out of the 30 big IPOs launched in terms of size, there are 8 IPOs which have given negative returns to the investors. The most high profile has been the IPO of Reliance Power, which was the biggest IPO of its time and has given the highest negative returns. There are 2 such IPOs in the top 10 which have generated returns more than CNX500. Coal India doubled in 14 years but if its dividends are added, the company has given better returns.
Zomato most successful IPO
Among the top 10 IPOs in terms of size, Zomato is the only IPO which has given excellent returns to investors. Apart from this, Hindustan Aeronautics, IRFC, Sona BLW Precision Forgings and ICICI Lombard are included in the top 30 IPOs, which have made good money for the investors investing in IPOs. .
Big IPOs do not give good returns
According to CapitalMind Financial Services, out of the top 10 IPOs launched in terms of size, 5 have come in the last two years. All of them have performed well on the stock exchange including Bajaj Housing Finance, Bharti Hexacom, Brainbees. On this data, Anoop Vijayakumar, Head of Investment and Research, Capitalmind Financial Services, said, overall, big IPOs have failed to deliver high returns for investors.
Consumer companies will dominate in 2024
According to CapitalMind Financial Services, the financial sector has dominated in raising funds in IPOs. However, consumer companies have emerged as the largest industry category in 2024. Of the funds raised in 2024, the share of consumer companies is 34 percent, financial is 27 percent and industrial is 14 percent.
